10 Years of
Anti-incumbency :
There is no big factor than 10yrs of anti-incumbency for the tragic show
of Congress in these elections. Congress did little to counter it, their
marketing was poor, strategies were mediocre.
Weakest(Rahul/MMS)
VS Strongest (Modi) :May be in recent history Congress party didn't have such a weak leader leading their campaign. And BJP didn't have such a confidant and strong leader as Modi in recent times.Rahul Gandhi & Manmohan Singh were turned out to be the best campaigners for BJP.
The
Semifinals:
State elections in Gujarat, Rajasthan, MP, CG and Delhi.Congress has morally lost
the battle last year it self when It failed to come back in Gujarat, MP
& CG where BJP was ruling for 2(or more) terms in spite of
anti-incumbency. Not only that, they couldn't retain Rajasthan, and
faced worst ever results in Delhi. The mood of the nation was out then
itself. UPA did more costly mistakes while trying to correct themselves.
Meanwhile BJP fine-tuned their campaign strategies and upgraded their
weapons (like 3D rallies..). For BJP these state elections gave immense
confidence, chance to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. 272+
seemed possible !
UP - Akhilesh played with fire UP with 20Cr population is
too big a state to give it in hands of an in experienced leader like
Akhilesh. With SPs appeasement politics, deteriorating law & order
situation in UP, mishandling of riots/re-habitation of riot victims , UP
people were fed up with Akhilesh and un responsive Center. They dumped
both SP & Cong giving 73/80 to BJP, without which BJP Wouldn't have
got such great victory. BSP's tactics were demolished by Amit Shah's
social engineering.
Bihar:
Nitesh moving out of NDA This is the turning point
of India politics in last 2 years. Everybody thought Nitesh leaving NDA
was a big jolt to NDA but it turned out to be Blessing in disguise for
BJP in Bihar. People felt cheated by Nitesh who won Bihar along with BJP
in state elections, when he dumped BJP. The hard work of Modi/BJP cadre,
social engineering , the maturity shown by Modi/BJP volunteers during
Patna blasts helped them win maximum seats in Another Crucial State.
IAC and The AAP factor If there is something that
added oil to the fire of people’s anger , that is India Against
Corruption movement led by Anna Hazare.
This movement has helped to awake people and made them aware of
the stinking situation we are in. And, These elections wouldn't have
been interesting without the new entrant AAP. It made sure that BJP
soldiers are not complacent &
on their toes till the last minute.
The
Telangana State & YS Jagan Factor It is undeniable fact
that, If UPA was in power for two
terms it is because of AP which sent 30+ MPs. Congress played a big
gamble by giving Telangana just few months before elections without
listening to the people of Andhra. Their cries/requests were not
answered. No central minster visited Andhra to address them. The result,
they are washed away in the most prosperous state for congress since
independence. Lack of unity among TG
congress leaders, KCR's blistering campaign, Congress's diminishing
popularity in whole country , plus the modi wave affected their fortunes
in TG, where congress thought they would do very well.
The 180
Club of BJP The 160-180 club (if
exists?) is a part of BJP who didn't want Modi as PM. The actions of
this club made the 272+ club work harder to make sure Modi gets definite
mandate.
The North
East Factor BJP has not won so many
seats in NE (10) earlier. The UPA government ignored this region. Its vote bank politics , soft
treatment to illegal immigrants caused demographical changes in NE. The
people of this region felt alienated.
NE showed faith in Modi this time BJP & Modi's hard work in
campaigning paid off.
Raise of
Social Media To me, this general elections is war
between Main stream Media(MSM) Vs Social Media (SM) than Cong Vs BJP.
The Main Stream (fiberal/sickular) media has left no stone unturned to
defame Modi. Thanks to the
evolution of Social Media, Each and every attempt by MSM has been
attacked & exposed. MSM
couldn't fool nation as it used to do a decade ago. Simply put, If not
SM , the results would have been different.
Last but not the least, RSS & Baba Ramdev's army of supporters campaigned at ground level relentlessly to bring in BJP governement at Delhi.
